The main route between the Isle of Man’s capital and the north has been reopened to traffic following maintenance work and road repairs ahead of the TT races.

The southern section of the A18 Mountain Road had been closed for three days

The closure was originally due to come to an end at 22:00 BST on Tuesday but had to be extended after poor weather conditions delayed some works.

The road had been closed between the Bungalow and the Creg-ny-Baa.

Work included hedge cutting, ditching, line painting and putting up signs and equipment ahead of the races.

The Department of Infrastructure said while the closure had been lifted, a temporary 40mph (64km/h) speed limit and traffic lights would in place between the Creg-ny-Baa and Brandish Corner overnight to allow for surfacing repairs in the area.
