A house has been closed after concerns were raised over drug use and anti-social behaviour taking place on the premises.

The property on Edinburgh Drive in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, has been closed to everyone, said Cambridgeshire Constabulary, including the legal tenant.

Peterborough Magistrates' Court approved the closure order, which will last until 28 July.

PC Matt Smart, who is part of Wisbech’s neighbourhood policing team, said action had to be taken and "breaches will be swiftly dealt with".

'Listening to concerns'

The full closure order was served on Monday after concerns about anti-social behaviour, drug use and drug dealing on the premises.

Officers visited the house and reported extensive damage to the exterior and interior, and offensive weapons were found inside.

They added that breaching the order would be a criminal offence, which could result in imprisonment for up to three months or a fine, or both.

PC Matt Smart said: “Despite the ongoing work that the neighbourhood team have been doing to tackle the issues at the address, the problem was still persisting so further action had to be taken in the form of a full closure order.

“I hope that the closure shows the residents that we are listening to their concerns, and we will be monitoring the address to ensure that any breaches will be swiftly dealt with.”
