A leading mental health charity is partnering up with a council to deliver free mental health and suicide prevention training.

Oxfordshire Mind and Oxfordshire County Council are starting their training curriculum on 9 May.

The initiative aims to equip professionals and volunteers with the skills necessary to support those facing mental health crises.

It will be informed by local knowledge, "addressing the specific challenges faced by Oxfordshire residents".

The Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Training program will be developed and tailored to complement the county-wide efforts to promote better mental health outcomes.

It will target "unmet needs" with priority given to individuals who have the most contact with key groups identified in the county's mental wellbeing needs assessment.

Oxfordshire Mind wellbeing partnership manager Marcus Hills said they were "thrilled" with the collaboration.

"This initiative reflects our shared commitment to prioritizing mental health and suicide prevention within the region," he said.

"By providing targeted, needs-led training, we aim to empower individuals and communities to foster a culture of understanding and support surrounding mental wellbeing."

Through education, advocacy, and empowerment Oxfordshire Mind and Oxfordshire County Council said they were working together to "build a more resilient and compassionate society for all."
