A member of a drug gang caught in Aberdeen with more than £100,000 heroin and cocaine has been jailed for five years.

Father-of-three Sherwin Brown, 32, was detained in November last year.

He had heroin worth £80,000 and cocaine worth £22,000, almost £10,000 in cash, and two mobile phones holding evidence that he was supplying drugs.

At the High Court in Dundee, Brown was jailed for five years and four months. He had earlier admitted supplying drugs.

Prosecutors said that at the time of the offences Brown was working for an organised crime group known as Carlos.

He had a record for previous drug offences.

Defence advocate Neil Shand said: "The role he played was taking orders, and delivering drugs.

"He handled money, but he was not benefiting from his involvement, other than writing off debt."

Judge Lord Summers said: "He is not at the top of the chain, but neither is he at the bottom.

"He has quite a track record. He was found in possession of roughly two kilos of drugs and I have to take account of the damage that does to society."
