Three men arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Dublin have been released without charge, Gardaí (Irish police) have said.

20-year-old Josh Itseli was shot dead on the Knocknarea Road in Drimnagh at about 00:15 local time on Monday.

On Tuesday a gun and an electric motorbike were seized by officers investigating the incident.

What Gardaí described as a "potential explosive device", understood to be a suspected pipe bomb, was also discovered in nearby Knocknarea Court and removed by the Irish Army's explosive ordnance disposal team.

Detectives believe the killing is connected to serious and organised crime, according to Irish broadcaster RTÉ.

A post-mortem has been completed on the body of the deceased male.

However, gardaí said that the results would not be released for "operational purposes".

The force has established an incident room at Sundrive Road Garda station under the direction of a senior investigating officer.

They have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to contact them.
