Surrey County Council (SCC) has launched a WhatsApp channel to send residents important news, updates and information directly.

Subscribers will receive direct messages including service alerts and community announcements.

The council hopes the platform will "enhance its communication" and make it easier for residents to stay informed.

SCC says its part of its efforts to "improve the delivery of services" and "create more meaningful and efficient engagement".
