Thunderstorm warnings covering the south of England have been issued by the Met Office.

The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for "likely" thunderstorms leading to possible travel disruption and some flooding.

An alert, external covering the South West, including Cardiff, Bath and Exeter, is in place from 20:00 BST on Wednesday until 08:00 on Thursday.

And a warning, external for London, the East and South East, from Oxford to Brighton and Canterbury, and including parts of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex is in place from 23:00 on Wednesday to 06:00 on Thursday.

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions, some road closures and public transport delays, the Met Office said.

It also said there was a "slight" chance power cuts could occur and other services could be lost.

The Met Office said lightning strikes could also lead to public transport delays, and there was a "small chance" that homes and businesses could be flooded, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning, hail or strong winds.
