A man has died after he was struck by two vehicles on Sunday.

The crash took place on the A69 in Haltwhistle, Northumberland, at about 23:35 BST.

A pedestrian, a man in his 50s, died at the scene in what police described as a "devastating incident".

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "For reasons yet to be established, a grey Audi A1 and a white Ford transit van have struck the male pedestrian on the road."

Part of the road was closed for several hours between the B6322 and Melkridge junctions. It has since been re-opened.

Officers have asked for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
