A primary school where pupils "never want to miss a day" has been rated outstanding by Ofsted.

Rode Heath Primary School in Cheshire, which was inspected in March, had previously been rated as good.

Pupils, parents and carers said they felt "proud and fortunate to be a part of this welcoming school", inspectors stated in their report., external

In a message on the school's website, head teacher John Frankland said it gave "great pleasure and immense pride" to say it was outstanding in all areas.

Pupils’ behaviour was exceptional, and highly trained staff delivered the curriculum with expertise and enthusiasm, said Ofsted.

The school had high expectations for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, and their needs were quickly and accurately identified, inspectors found.

Children in the early years received the "best possible start" to their education, and those in the last year of primary left as "knowledgeable and thoughtful individuals."

Staff knew that their workload and wellbeing were considered when any decision was made, and governors provided highly effective challenge and support to the school, Ofsted added.
