A council wellbeing manager who champions young people and mental health has received an award for her contribution to the community.

Jacqueline Wright was recognised for her work at the Gloucestershire youth charity The Door's awards night.

Ms Wright works for Cotswold District Council and with The Door helping struggling young people.

She said she cares most about seeing the "happy faces" of the local people she supports.

'Enjoy my job'

"I enjoy my job so much because I am able to see all those smiling faces," she said.

"It's about improving people's health and well-being and and their quality of life.

"That's our purpose, improving people's quality of life in everything we do."

'Thoroughly deserving'

Cabinet member for health, leisure and culture and youth champion for the council, Paul Hodgkinson, said he is supportive of the "amazing" work he has seen Ms Wright do.

"I'm so pleased that she has been able to make such a difference to the community, and specifically to young people," he said.

"Jacqui is thoroughly deserving of this award."Victoria Robson from The Door said Ms Wright has also helped them secure vital funding."She has been a big supporter of The Door and her local community and a great champion of family support work in the Cotswold District where we now provide all our services," Ms Robson said.

"So I am delighted to award the next community award to Jacqui Wright."
