A new sculpture walk in North Lincolnshire will allow people to step back in time, the council said.

The Time Trail at Atkinson's Warren local nature reserve in Scunthorpe will feature previous residents of the area.

Chainsaw carved statues include a Roman solider, a wild boar, a sabre tooth tiger and a 30ft (9m) pliosaur.

The trail is being funded with £16,400 of Government money from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Councillor David Rose said: "This will be a wonderful way for families to get out, connect with nature, learn a little bit about our heritage and have fun.

"I am really pleased to see government money being used to enhance our environment like this, and I look forward to seeing these incredible sculptures."

The artworks are being created by Lincolnshire sculptor Mick Burns.

It is hoped the Time Trail will be open to visitors in the autumn, North Lincolnshire Council.
