Gary Godden of the Labour Party has been elected as police and crime commissioner (PCC) for Nottinghamshire.

He earned 119,355 votes, beating Caroline Henry - who was elected for the Conservatives in 2021- into second place with 77,148 votes.

After being elected he said he felt "incredibly humbled" to take on the role, while Ms Henry said it had been "an absolute honour" to serve the county in the position.

The voter turnout was 27.5%.

In March Nottinghamshire Police was placed into special measures, with Chief Constable Kate Meynell saying she recognised the "serious nature" of an inspection's findings.

While she was serving as PCC, Mrs Henry was given a six-month driving ban after being caught speeding five times in the space of 12 weeks.

In a statement at the time, she said she was "truly sorry for speeding".
