A man has admitted the manslaughter of 71-year-old Wendy Buckney after denying her murder.

Brian Whitelock, 57, pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility at Swansea Crown Court on Wednesday.

The body of retired horsewoman Ms Buckney was found outside her Clydach home, in Swansea, in August 2022.

Mr Whitelock had been charged with one count of murder, and one of manslaughter.

Prosecutor Michael Jones KC told the court the Crown did not accept the manslaughter plea.

A murder trial date was set for 12 November after a pre-trial hearing on 5 July.
