Covid inquiry: Mark Drakeford gets emotional giving evidence

First Minister Mark Drakeford became visibly emotional at the Covid inquiry after speaking about his mother who was in a care home.

"I visited my mother on 22 February at her 90th birthday and I didn’t see her again for many, many months," he said.

"The heartbreak that people feel about being separated from people who mean such a lot to them is very real."

Mr Drakeford's comments came on the penultimate day of the UK inquiry's Welsh module in Cardiff as he gave a whole day of evidence.
