Boston United have been promoted to the National League after victory over Brackley Town at St James Park.

It all started so well for Brackley when Morgan Roberts gave them a 34th-minute lead, but Boston levelled through Keaton Ward in first-half stoppage time.

Jimmy Knowles’ penalty decided the game, but Boston could have wrapped it up with a number of chances late on.

It is more heartbreak for Brackley, who have now lost four times in the play-offs.

Roberts sent the Brackley fans wild when he tapped home from close range. Danny Newton failed to connect with a shot in the area but it fell kindly to Roberts and he finished well.

But with the last kick of the first half, Boston levelled. Brackley could only clear Brad Nicholson’s long throw into Ward's path, and he timed a volley perfectly to find the bottom corner.

The turnaround was complete when Knowles sent Danny Lewis the wrong way from the penalty spot just shy of the hour after Jai Rowe was fouled in the area.
