Leicestershire will have Australian opener Marcus Harris available for an extra two County Championship games after extending his contract to cover for Wiaan Mulder.

Left-hander Harris was set to end his second spell with the Foxes after their game against Middlesex at Lord’s, starting on Friday.

But the 31-year-old will now remain with the Division Two leaders for fixtures against his former county Gloucestershire and Glamorgan later this month.

All-rounder Mulder will be away with South Africa’s T20 World Cup squad for a warm-up series against West Indies in the Caribbean during that time.

Harris, who spent a successful season at Leicester in 2021 before moving to Gloucestershire, has scored 333 runs at an average of 66.6 since his return to Grace Road.

Leicestershire are two points clear at the top of the table after drawing all four of their matches so far this season.
