Plans to regenerate four Carmarthenshire towns

Plans are to be unveiled for the regeneration of four Carmarthenshire towns.

Residents in Laugharne, St Clears, Newcastle Emlyn and Pendine have been asked by Carmarthenshire council what improvements they would like to see in their communities.

The plans have been put forward as part of a £2m rural development scheme.

"We are hopeful that we will be successful in our bid for funding," said the council.

Among the proposals identified were riverside access schemes in St Clears and Newcastle Emlyn, a town environmental enhancement scheme in Laugharne and promenade improvements in Pendine.

The plans have been put forward as part of a bid for funding under the Rural Development Plan for Wales, which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

'Feasibility'

Officers are planning to showcase the proposals to the communities in a series of public exhibitions over the coming weeks.

The council's project development officer Michael Morgan said: "We have prepared detailed plans with the support of the four towns involved and consultation has been carried out on the feasibility of each scheme.

"We are now planning to revisit the towns to interact further with residents and discuss the plans with them."
