L/Cpl Barry Buxton died in hospital

The funeral of a Staffordshire soldier who died in Afghanistan earlier this month has taken place.

L/Cpl Barry Buxton, 27, from Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, died when his vehicle rolled into the Nahr-e Bughra canal in Helmand Province when a road collapsed.

Other soldiers managed to get him out of the submerged vehicle but he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at hospital in Camp Bastion.

A full military funeral took place at St Mary's Church in Uttoxeter.

L/Cpl Buxton was described by his regiment, the 21 Engineer Regiment, as a "great soldier and fine man".
