Humber estuary flood defence scheme progressing well

A £2.7m scheme to help protect land and businesses on the Humber estuary from flooding is progressing well, the Environment Agency has said.

Steel piles have been placed along a 900-metre section of Halton Marshes as part of the project, which started in September last year.

The Agency said this was now complete and rocks were being used to shore up the defences.

The scheme is expected to finish as planned in October.

The work is part of the Humber Estuary Flood Risk Management Strategy, which outlines the Environment Agency's flood risk management plan for the estuary for the next 25 years.
