Work is to get under way to complete the final phase of a two-year refurbishment scheme at Barnsley crematorium.
The chapel will be closed and a temporary base provided for funeral services while work takes place for eight weeks from 14 June.
New windows, doors and a sound system will be installed as part of the £450,000 refurbishment.
Councillor Roy Miller said the current Doncaster Road crematorium was dated.
He said: "We have received comments from people visiting the crematorium on how dated the facilities are and we have responded with a facility that meets those needs."
