Extra cost in Alderney Quay refit
- Published
Repairs to Alderney Quay are expected to cost an extra £100,000 after several large holes were discovered in its foundations.
The quay is undergoing a multi-million pound facelift, which includes a new fire-fighting system and fuel line and work on the upper and lower berths.
Colin Williams, chairman of the Commercial Quay Project Board, said the overall cost was worth it.
He said: "With a marine structure these things have got to be built properly."
Mr Williams said the new jetty was intended to last for 60 years once it was complete.
