Jersey woman receives highest RNLI fundraiser honour

A woman from Jersey has been awarded the highest honour the RNLI conveys on its fundraisers.

Caryll McFadyen, who has supported the Jersey RNLI for the past 26 years, was presented with a gold badge by Prince Michael of Kent.

Mrs McFadyen was involved in raising funds for the new St Helier lifeboat the George Sullivan.

Her award is one of only a handful ever presented by the charity for work in the Channel Islands.

The award ceremony at the Barbican Centre in London was also attended by Mrs McFadyen's husband and son, who are both volunteers at St Catherine's lifeboat station.

Between them, the family has been involved with the RNLI in Jersey for more than 60 years.
