Olympic gold medallist made Bath city freeman

Winter Olympics gold medallist Amy Williams has been installed as an honorary freeman of the City of Bath, where she trained and attended school.

The 27-year-old is the first individual British gold medallist at the Winter Olympics for 30 years, having won the skeleton event in Vancouver.

Ms Williams is also the first woman to be made a freeman of Bath, in a ceremony in Bath Abbey.

She said: "It's a massive honour. There are some big names on the list."

Other honorary freeman of the City of Bath include former Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, musician Yehudi Menuhin and former Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie.
