Thieves steal lead from St Peter's Church in Adderley

A large amount of lead has been stolen from a village church in Shropshire.

It was taken from the roof of St Peter's Church in Adderley, near Market Drayton, between about 1130 BST on Sunday and 1100 BST on Tuesday.

The lead was security marked with Smartwater, which is only visible in ultraviolet light.

Police said in order to transport it the thieves would have needed a vehicle, which was probably parked in the church drive.

Police are urging any witnesses to come forward.
