Alcohol was also banned at La Vallette during the summer of 2009

An area around La Vallette pools in St Peter Port, Guernsey, has again been designated an alcohol-free zone.

The ban on alcohol will operate 24 hours a day from Saturday 12 June until 31 October.

No drinking signs have been put up at La Vallette and police vowed to enforce the ban as necessary.

Police hope the measures will help reduce the incidents of alcohol-related disorder and allow families to enjoy the facilities in that area.

The scheme is similar to the one already in place at the Sunken Gardens and run at the bathing pools last summer.
