Stand-up comedian Dara O Briain has been announced as the new host of the Apprentice spin-off show You're Fired.

Best known for presenting comic panel show Mock the Week, O Briain will replace Adrian Chiles who recently defected to ITV.

Candidates who get fired by Lord Alan Sugar on the main Apprentice show appear on BBC Two's You're Fired, where a panel discuss their performance.

O Briain said he was "delighted" to have landed the role.

Controller of BBC Two Janice Hadlow said: "I'm thrilled to have Dara on board. His unique style of quick-witted banter is ideally suited to the job of probing the latest casualty of Lord Sugar's infamous firing finger."

Last year Yasmina Siadatan was named the winner of The Apprentice.

The former restaurateur beat Kate Walsh to the title, after impressing Lord Sugar in the final task where they were asked to develop and market a new brand of chocolate
