The decorative displays brightened up Brookhouse roundabout

Vandals have destroyed floral displays a week after they were put up in Woking town centre by cycling enthusiasts.

The silver bicycles decorated with flowers were installed in flowerbeds on the Brookhouse roundabout.

But vandals have ripped the baskets from the bikes, bent the wheels and smashed a sign promoting cycling.

The display was installed by Cycle Woking, a partnership between Surrey and Woking councils to promote two-wheeled transport.

Ellie Guttridge, Cycle Woking's communications officer. said: "It's disappointing that the display has been destroyed after such a short time.

"A lot of work went into getting the bicycle displays installed.

"We initially installed them to see how they would be received and we had intended to place further displays around the town,"

"But if vandals just destroy them we will be forced to abandon these plans."
