Teenager dies jumping into Somerset quarry

A teenager has died after he jumped into a water-filled disused quarry in Somerset.
The 19-year-old, named locally as Dean Mason, had been at Holcombe Quarry with friends on Saturday when he is thought to have "tombstoned" and failed to resurface.
The body of Mr Mason, from Weston-super-Mare, was recovered the following day. His family have been informed.
Police warned people of the dangers of tombstoning and playing in open water.
A 16-year-old from Bath drowned when he plunged 30ft (9m) into the quarry near Shepton Mallet seven years ago.
Last summer, footage of teenagers tombstoning there was posted on the website YouTube.
Inspector Jo Ross said: "Holcombe Quarry is private property and is fenced off because it is extremely dangerous.
"Submerged objects like rocks may not be visible and can cause serious injury or death if you jump on to them."
She said the shock of the cold water could make it difficult to swim and warned people not to let alcohol, drugs or peer pressure affect their judgement.
