More than 6,000 people in Shetland have signed a petition opposing plans by the council to start charging for instrumental music lessons in schools.

Fiddler Aly Bain, who is from the islands, joined a musical protest on the steps of Lerwick's Town Hall.

The protest also saw the petition being handed over.

Shetland Islands Council is expected to decide on Thursday whether to start charging pupils £140 a year for lessons.
