A Cambridgeshire vet treating a dog who could not keep her food down has found five toy cats in the animal's stomach.

Snowy, a white West Highland terrier, was given a routine X-ray after her owner brought her in to the Cromwell Veterinary Group at Huntingdon.

She had been unwell for about two weeks, associate vet Carol Barker said.

Ms Barker, who operated on Snowy and retrieved the toy cats, said: "We were quite surprised when we saw a little cat's head sticking out of her tummy."

She said the larger "mother" toy cat was about 5cm (2in), with the other four smaller cats measuring 2.5 cm (1in).

She said Snowy had made a good recovery and was a brighter much happier dog.
