Newcastle University boost for overseas students

Plans have been approved for a multimillion-pound teaching and accommodation complex for overseas students at Newcastle University.
Construction work on three new buildings is due to start in August.
A teaching block will be built adjacent to Percy Street, next to the existing Herschel Building.
Two accommodation blocks for 540 international students will be constructed nearby. Work is due to be completed by the summer of 2012.
Preparatory work on the project means that from 14 July there will be no pedestrian access to the campus from Percy Street via Haymarket Lane or George Place.
Car parking is also being affected, with the closure of the Herschel car parks.
