Dark-sky island status could boost tourism in Sark, it is claimed

The Chief Pleas is to be asked for £5,000 to help Sark apply for "Dark-Sky Island" status.

The classification is given by the International Dark-Sky Association to help promote astronomy and energy efficiency.

A consultant has drawn up a lighting management plan which people would be asked to follow, although it would not be enforceable by law.

An audit of the light on Sark identified only eight "bad" lights.
