Guernsey's lifeboat was called out in the early hours of Wednesday morning to rescue a local speedboat.
Six people were on board the 17ft Hi Flyer, which had suffered steering failure, was low on fuel and had become lost in fog.
A call for assistance was made shortly after 0300 BST and the Spirit of Guernsey lifeboat reached the boat 40 minutes later.
The boat was towed safely to St Peter Port harbour.
