A cocoa factory in Hull has closed with the loss of 86 jobs.

ADM Cocoa, which supplies cocoa products to firms including Kraft and Nestle, announced plans to shut the Cleveland Street site in March.

The US firm cited an "overcapacity in the cocoa processing market and geographic shifts in demand for semi-finished cocoa".

Factory staff, who finished work on Wednesday, staged a protest over the closure plan in April.

ADM Cocoa said it had held talks with union representatives and staff since March and had "carefully considered all the feedback and comments" before deciding to go ahead with the closure plan.
