CCTV cameras in Birmingham are covered with hoods

Protective hoods and 'cameras not in use' signs are being fixed to CCTV cameras put up in Birmingham and paid for from a counter terrorism fund.
The 218 cameras were mainly put up in Washwood Heath and Sparkbrook, areas with a large Muslim population.
After protests, Birmingham City Council said it would not switch on the cameras until after public consultation.
The council said the signs would provide reassurance that the cameras are not being used.
A number of the cameras installed are hidden and the Safer Birmingham Partnership, a group which includes police and the council, said hoods would not be placed over these because it did not want their locations revealed.
The cameras were installed under a scheme called Project Champion.
They were financed through a counter-terrorism fund, but the SBP has said they would be used to tackle all crime.
