St Pauls Carnival in Bristol attracts thousands

More than 60,000 people are thought to have joined in the celebrations at the St Pauls Carnival in the centre of Bristol.

The event, which began in 1967, is famous for the street parade of floats and children in colourful costumes.

The community festival is run by a non-profit making organisation and celebrates African-Caribbean arts and culture in the city.

This year's theme is dedicated to those who make a difference in the community.

Organisers are hoping they will sell enough carnival merchandise - which includes t-shirts, masks, whistles and vuvuzelas - in their fight to overcome a lack of sponsorship.

The carnival finishes at 0200 BST on Sunday.
