Record sum raised by Guernsey's World Aid Walk

A charity walk in Guernsey raised a record £30,000 this year, organisers have revealed.

People who took part in the 20km (12.4 mile) World Aid Walk in May will be recognised at an awards ceremony later this month.

Action Aid, Christian Aid, Oxfam, Save the Children and the Tumaini Fund will all benefit from the funds raised.

More than 1,000 participants took part, most of them wearing red to mark the event's 40th anniversary.

Guernsey Action Aid said its share of this year's fund-raising will go towards a project which rescues street children in India.
