Cambridge's Strawberry Fair looks set to return in 2011

A one-day festival in Cambridgeshire cancelled this year will take place in June 2011, organisers said.

Cambridge's Strawberry Fair was stopped by the committee that runs it after the police appealed against a licence granted by the city council.

Now four amendments to the licence that address police concerns about alcohol have been approved by the council.

The approval formalises the agreement reached between the Police and the Fair Committee over management of the event.

The four minor variations to the licence include orders that specific entry points are set up to allow people to be stopped and searched if necessary and that anyone carrying "excessive quantities" of alcohol will not be allowed to bring it into the fair.

The licence also states organisers must stop anyone from selling alcohol to others on site.
