Lincoln east-west route plans on display

Plans for a new relief road through the centre of Lincoln are going on display as part of a public consultation.
Under the plans, Tentercroft Street in the city would be widened to take more traffic.
Alan Aistrop of Lincolnshire County Council said the £20m scheme will eventually allow a section of High Street to be pedestrianised.
The plans can be seen at St Mary's Guildhall from 8 July and at the Waterside Shopping Centre on 9-10 July.
Traffic jams
Les Davies of the county council said: "We are not seeking central government funding, but EMDA have funded the purchase of the former Coal Yard which will facilitate the road and the regeneration of this part of the city.
"LCC are committed to the road scheme and are finding the funds to progress it through its own and, where possible, other resources."
The county council said the route will reduce traffic congestion and support Lincoln's growth as a principal urban centre.
It is hoped the project will ease congestion in Lincoln and open up land for development.
