Police asked marchers and protestors to exercise restraint and responsibility

Police are appealing for people to ensure that the Twelfth of July Orange parades on Monday pass off peacefully.

In a statement, the PSNI asked everyone taking in, or protesting against the parades, to "exercise restraint and responsibility".

Last year, dissident republicans were blamed for orchestrating rioting which broke out at an Orange Order march in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast.

Twenty-one officers were injured during the disturbances.

The cost of policing three nights of rioting in the area last July was just over £420,000.
