A special ceremony is being held at a Norfolk primary school to mark the school's £2.4m transformation.

Cobholm Primary and Nursery School has been refurbished and extended to mark its change from a first school to a primary school.

The Norfolk County Council project means pupils will be at the school from aged four until 11.

Cobholm changed status in September 2007 and the extended building means it can now cater for 210 pupils.

Alison Thomas, cabinet member for children's services, said: "We are close to completing our programme to reorganise Norfolk's schools, meaning no children in the county will have to transfer to a new school in the middle of a key stage.

"We have high aspirations for Norfolk's children and believe this gives them more continuity at vital stages of their schooling."

The school will hold an opening ceremony on 13 July.

The extension and refurbishment includes seven classrooms, a nursery class, a new school hall and kitchen, a learning resource centre, new staff room and front entrance.
