A cafe owner says he is "delighted to welcome customers back" as the business reopens after flooding.

Krumbz Cafe in Marlborough, Wiltshire, was flooded in January when the River Kennet overflowed after heavy rain.

The community raised more than £9,000 in two weeks to help repair the damage.

Cafe owner Roy Meek said: "We had amazing support from everyone."

Mr Meek and his wife took on the business a year ago and had already experienced one minor flood.

The heavy rainfall which inundated Marlborough during Storm Henk on 2 January caused much deeper flooding, which affected homes and businesses in Kennet Place, The Parade and London Road.

Mr Meek said: "The building had to be gutted and it's amazing we've been able to reopen so quickly."

"The community really showed its colours during this time.

"We have amazing support from everyone, people popping in and offering manual labour," he added.

Mr Meek praised the cafe's landlord for reacting quickly to instigate repairs.

Work is continuing at many homes and businesses nearby, with some repairs expected to go on for months.

'Smiling faces'

Mr Meek continued: "The kitchen is completely new and all the white goods had to be replaced.

"We've done what we can with our budget to make it resistant to floods.

"We've lifted the electricity supply and all our equipment is on wheels.

"We just want to say thank you to all our customers for sticking with us.

"We are so happy to see all the smiling faces."
