Renovation works begin at Jersey swimming pool

The programme of works was due to start on Monday

Work to renovate a Jersey sports centre and swimming pool has started on Monday - with the closure of the men's changing room.

New flooring and changing cubicles in the men's changing room at Les Quennevais sports centre is the first phase of a programme of works to be carried out this summer.

Men using the public swimming pool have been told they should use the ladies team changing area from Monday until 15 July, when the pool will close.

Women will continue to use the separate standard female changing room.

The pool is expected to be closed from 15 July

The works being carried out at the centre include maintenance of steel columns in the roof, electrical upgrades and refurbishment of the pool changing rooms.

Members were told the pool, the ladies pool changing rooms, family rooms and the accessible changing room will be closed from 15 July until 2 September.

They were told this was for new flooring and drainage to be installed.

A spokesperson for the sports centre said while the works were expected to be complete by 2 September, the end dates "may be subject to change".
