A festival inspired by the Japanese tradition of Hanami has got under way in Worcestershire.

Hanbury Hall's Festival of Blossom began on Monday and encourages people to appreciate the beauty of blossom in bloom.

Hanami, or flower viewing, is the focus of the event, which runs until 28 April with a range of activities including blossom bathing, crafts, talks and storytelling.

Several species of blossom tree are found at the country retreat near Bromsgrove, including plum, pear, apple, and cherry.

Visitors are encouraged to grab a yoga mat and take a deep breath as they rest beneath the apple blossom.

Gardener Nicki will also be on hand to guide people through a short talk amongst the apple trees to teach them more about the historic orchard on Wednesday at 12:15 BST and on 24 April at the same time.
