The section of railings was forced out of place on Thursday night

Vandalism to a section of railings in Bridgnorth has been described as "disappointing" and "dangerous" by the town clerk.

The metal bars, which formed part of the railings around Castle Wall, appear to have been "forced or kicked" out of place Clare Turner said.

She said it was reported on Friday morning and the section of railings was found to have fallen on to the hillside below.

Shropshire Council said it would send engineers to repair them.

Ms Turner said tape had been put up around the missing section, to warn people passing by.

She said it was clear the damage had not been caused by the weather because there were signs of the section being twisted out of place and the concrete base being damaged.

She said Castle Walk was a "beautiful part of the town" and that it was "disappointing that this would happen".

She hoped the railings could be repaired before the weekend.
