Residents and businesses were warned to keep their windows and doors closed after a large fire started at a former Burger King restaurant.

Cambridgeshire Fire Service was called to the A1307 at Fenstanton at about 17:30 BST.

The roof of the former fast food restaurant collapsed and the neighbouring Travelodge hotel was advised to keep windows and doors shut.

The fire was out by 20:30, but crews remained there for another hour.

The fire service also advised people in the village, near Huntingdon, to be aware of the smoke and keep doors and windows closed if necessary.

Crews dampened down hotspots and left the scene at about 21:30.

A spokesperson said they would return to the site for a reinspection and an investigation into the cause was due to be carried out on Wednesday.
