Woman dies after falling from horse spooked by dog

The horse rider died in hospital on Sunday evening, police said.

A woman has died after falling from a horse when it was spooked by a dog, West Yorkshire Police said.
The woman, in her 60s, was taken to hospital after being thrown from the horse near Bullerthorpe Lane, in the Newsam Green are of Leeds on Sunday.
The force said she later died as a result of her injuries.
Supt Emma Winfield, said: "This was a tragic incident where a woman has sadly lost her life, and our thoughts remain with her family who are being supported by specialist officers."
The force said it was reported that shortly before the incident, a dog had been present near to the horse.
The horse, which ran off after throwing its rider, was later found safe and uninjured,
A police spokesperson said the owner of the dog had remained on scene, adding that an investigation into the incident was still in its early stages.
Any witnesses to the incident have been asked to contact police.
