A 12-year-old boy and a teenager have been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at derelict club used in a Robbie Williams music video.

The blaze broke out just before 15:00 BST on Saturday at the former Central Club on Kent Road in Blackpool.

Lancashire Police said the boy had been bailed pending further inquiries and the 19-year-old man remained in custody.

Residents were warned to keep their windows shut as smoke was seen billowing from the ex-working men's club, which featured in the star's 2005 song Advertising Space.

Large plumes of smoke obscure the view of the Central Club, although the blue sign can be made out. A fire engine is parked outside the building and a ladder is leaning against the wall.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said a "large smoke plume" had spread in the area and urged people close by who could see or smell the smoke to stay inside and keep windows closed.

No injuries have been reported.

The fire brigade said four fire engines and specialist appliances, including an aerial ladder platform and water tower, were still at the scene.

A spokesperson said: "The fire has been brought under control but there are a number of hot spots that our firefighters are working to extinguish."

The Central Club was a popular fixture in the seaside resort's club scene.

However, it has been closed for a number of years and was listed for sale at £300,000 in 2019.

In 2021, Lancashire Police found 1,500 cannabis plants and growing equipment in the building and a man from London was arrested.
