A Christmas event for people serving in the armed forces, veterans and their families is being held in Telford.

"Breakfast with Santa" will take place on Saturday from 09:30 to 12:00 GMT, at the Christopher Turley Armed Forces Community Hub in Dawley.

The hub was opened in October in honour of former councillor, Christopher Turley, who served in the Army for more than two decades.

The event includes food and drink, a chance to meet Father Christmas and gifts for children, festive music, a Christmas tree and crafts.

"We're delighted to bring the Armed Forces community together for a festive morning of food, fun, and friendship at The Christopher Turley Armed Forces Community Hub in Dawley," said councillor Paul Davis, Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet member for communities and civic pride.

"It's a wonderful way to start the season and show our appreciation for those who serve and have served, and a great opportunity for the forces community to get together with like-minded people."

The event coincides with the Christmas lights switch on, held by Great Dawley Town Council on the same day, which features live entertainment, an ice rink and crafts from 13:00, with the lights switched on at 17:00.

Tickets are £2 per adult, and children go free with a paying adult.
