A new church aimed at university students is set to be built on an industrial estate in Preston.

City council planners have approved the conversion of a unit in Moor Park Court in St George’s Road, Deepdale, which will become a new base for The Potters House Christian Fellowship.

It will be the second community base that the evangelical church has established in Preston, in addition to an existing facility in Garstang Road from 2010.

The fellowship say that a large number of its anticipated worshippers live within walking distance of the new site.

It expects “the majority of congregations [to] be made up of university students”.

About 85 people are estimated to attend Sunday morning services, while about 40 are expected for evening services on Wednesday and Sunday.

Worshippers will have access to an existing 28-space car park.
